Easter walks have long been a tradition for many families, and with the weather set to be lovely this weekend you won't need any better excuse to set off. They are perfect for spending quality time together and needless to say... burn off some of that extra chocolate you may have eaten! Take a look at our favourite dog walk picks below, one just might be closer to you than you think!
Ashridge Estate, Hertfordshire
The Ashridge Estate consists of 5,000 acres of woodland. You can walk for miles and see lots of wildlife. You can take your pick of self-led walks where you can explore the estate with routes for everyone - whether you’re there for half an hour or the entire day. The Brownlow Café is the perfect pit stop to refuel after exploring or if you would prefer, there are lots of areas for you to stop to have a picnic. They do ask that dogs are 100% reliable when they are off the lead as there are cyclists, horse-riders, other dogs and wild deer on the estate too.
Epping Forest, Essex
Epping Forest is a lovely large forest ideal for dog walking. There’s plenty of free parking in various different locations and there are some excellent refreshment facilities too - from tea huts and cafés to pubs and restaurants. There are however lots of cyclists so do keep this in mind if letting your dog off the lead.
Clent Hills, Worcestershire
Clent Hills is in the heart of the busy Midlands and is home to a special 2.5 mile circular dog walk trail, where dogs can run around off the lead. You will be able to enjoy panoramic views and wildlife as you pass through fields and woodlands - which look beautiful all year round!
Killerton, Devon
If you’re looking for a glorious dog walk in Devon then look no further than Killerton. It’s a circular walk with wide-open space for dogs to be exercised on and off the lead. Perfect for a game of fetch and to enjoy far-reaching views and the rolling Devon countryside.
Craster to Low Newton, Northumberland
What dog doesn’t love a sandy beach dog walk? You can start at Craster, walk past the remains of Dunstanburgh Castle before going onto Embleton Sands and then Low Newton by the sea. It really is a wonderful walk all year round, but spring is the perfect time as the flowers are in bloom.
Hampstead Heath, London
You can enjoy some of the best views of London whilst walking your dog around hilly Hampstead Heath. It’s a beautiful area and hugely popular for flying kites but there’s also a swimming pond dedicated to dogs that love to go swimming whilst on their walk. There’s plenty of history too with at least 55 historical features, monuments and archaeological sites to explore. They’ve got plenty of car parks nearby if you choose to drive or it's also easy to reach by train from the Northern Line or London Overground.
